Having featured Puma’s most innovative runner to date previously, we were excited to see how they pushed the concept forward. With anticipated future releases coming in 2018, the most recent collection ‘PLAY’, did not fail to deliver.
The PLAY collection has been designed with gaming nostalgia in mind. Each shoe has core colours, that wouldn’t be out of sync in a 1980’s SEGA advert. The white colour-way strikes us as their boldest with key red, yellow and blue primary accents, alongside premium leather uppers, supportive inserts and cushion technology designed for true comfort (they were originally running trainers after all!). The inserts themselves are modelled off the back of old console buttons, which really play on the gaming aesthetic.
This collection deserved to be shot in an environment that inspired their creation. We hit up a Las Vegas Arcade Soho, playing old school classics we haven’t played since year 6, with Time Crisis, Daytona 6 and House of the Dead all getting merked in a suitably wavy fashion. We had quite a few people come up to us and ask what brand we were wearing at the same time – which speaks volumes on just how different this collection is to other brands on the market.
J wears the RS-0 in white with a Tommy blue tee, while C rocks the low-key wavy grey RS-0 with a striped Tommy tee too.
